Of course, nothing in this life is for free. We must all pay the price for things in some capacity, right?
So I can't really expect to achieve a new state of being and existence without having to prove my intention and dedication first. Aside from the Ayahuasca brew apparently tasting like the most vile concoction known to man (and them some!) making it not only incredibly difficult to swallow, but actually holding it down is meant to be a spiritual task of incorrigible proportions in and of itself.
After consuming the brew comes "the purge" and from what I've read, it can be of absolutely colossal proportions. Violent vomiting and diarrhea, shaking, sweats, certainty of death and likely to follow. I've read about people vomiting and shitting themselves at the same time, smearing their own faces over walls while trying to reach the toilet...so yeah, I'm trying to follow La Dieta as strictly as I can.
Interestingly enough, the Shaman has asked that we all wear light coloured clothing during the Ayahuasca ceremonies to enable him clearer vision through our psyches. Apparently I don't own a single white or light piece of clothing so those had to be acquired quite abruptly - I'm not exactly sure how much of a good idea it is to have light coloured clothing during such stomach-turbulent times but I do what the Shaman says.
The purge is also said to have its benefits as well. Apparently the body needs a good vomiting every now and then to rid itself of stale remnants. I'm not one to disbelieve that and I don't mind vomiting all that much anyway, it's the potentially uncontrollable diarrhea I am most hesitant about.

I was not following a strict diet before I tried ayahuasca. Vomited moderately. Ran to the toilet, and sat for a while hehe. It wasn't that uncontrolled luckily. But unlike most of the other participants, I had no visions the first night, and they only lasted for a short while on the second night.
ReplyDeleteBut I am convinced it helped my angst and depressions. I have been depressed since, but it only lasts for hours instead of days like it used to. I am going back for the March solstice with Edward Hoffman. Looking forward to it now that I know what to expect more than the first time. :)
That's very good to read. Fingers crossed...eller håller tummarna! (and have fun on the trip, looking forward to hearing about it!)
DeleteWe will! Hope your jungle adventure was all you hoped for!
DeleteIf you are going over there to either make a change or just to look at the possibilities of change then perhaps the unexpected request to wear light coloured clothing might be an also unexpected bonus? The fact that you say that you didn't actually own any at all is a change in itself. I only have 1 white shirt that I ever wear, and that is veeery occasionally to say the least! I just don't feel comfortable in it. It affects my peripheral vision as I am not used to having a constant brightness at the edges of my sight and the worst thing - everyone comments on it. I only really wear it at home.
